Well Folks, another two weeks have passed. I email about twice a month. It's too much to email once a week and I figure y'all don't want to read that much anyway.
I'm almost done with my first transfer, which is six weeks. But I think I'm staying here in Brunswick GA with my trainer sister Clark.
- This area is literally the best for service. Last week I think we did service everyday. That was what I was most looking forward to, so that's the best part of the mission so far.
- We've been doing service for Keep Golden Isles Beautiful an affiliate for Keep America Beautiful. We helped stuff envelopes and even did some artwork for them to auction off. I made a mermaid and a seahorse.
- Sister Clark and I made valentines day gifts to bring to some sisters in our ward. It's a great way to see a bunch of people.
- We went on trade offs, which is where we switch our companions for a day. It was so nice. I lead my area which was scary at first but really helped me gain my confidence. Plus Sister Isom is awesome and was really good at complimenting me on what I was good at. It really helped me.
- We've begun teaching a woman named Joan and she's wonderful, everything we said she thought just made sense. I won't be surprised if shes baptized soon. We introduced her to the gospel library and let me tell you, we could be doing a better job at taking advantage of this wonderful app!! There is so much on there we could learn from!
- We got Jarod and Javen (members in our ward), an RM and a soon-to-be missionary, a chocolate man for valentine's day. It was hilarious. Their parents loved it more than we did.
- I was able to pick up a violin again yesterday!! It felt like forever since I held one and it took a while to feel comfortable but hopefully I'll be playing in church soon with the bishop's daughter!
- Found Llama candy.
- We got Sonic and had to take a Poloroid... obviously.
- A member literally gave us the best brownies. I thought I was in heaven!!
- We're getting fed more, seems like more members are liking us. And we're really loving the members here.
- Turns out there are deer on islands... (According to Elder Matthews)
- There is a Brother here that is so smart and knowledgeable about the gospel! Sister Clark and I just constantly ask him questions. He almost always knows the answer or goes and finds it for us. We go to his institute class every Thursday night.
- Every Wednesday Sister Clark have what we call a Piggly Wiggly moment where we go get ice cream or cheesecake or something. It's so fun. And a nice break.
- We went to dinner at a South African man's house last night and he fed us a strange dish. I can definitely say it's the weirdest thing I've eaten on my mission so far. It was rice with meat curry, some sort of African pico de gallo, chutney, and bananas... I did not expect to like it. But it was actually good enough that I got seconds.
Not going to lie the mission is still hard but the spirit I have been able to feel at members homes and with different people we're teaching has been wonderful.
I have been studying spiritual gifts and I can tell you without a doubt the Lord gave us all at least one. I would encourage all of you to study them and find out which ones you have and what you would like to have!
Y'all are amazing and I love y'all so much!!!
Y'all are amazing and I love y'all so much!!!
I miss you!
Sister Bailey
